4. The Most Annoying Video

Prepare yourself to watch a very annoying video.
Our lives revolve around 2 dimensional screens. Whether you're watching the latest episode of Jersey Shore in your spare time, taking lecture notes from a power point presentation, or writing a blog, you're using a screen medium. Television is a Drug, posted by Beth Fulton on Vimeo but taken from Todd Alcott's poem Television, is a great way to demonstrate the drug like qualities of television. Humans are sucked in and become addicted to the latest and greatest shows, much like a drug.

Through the frazzled voice narration, short flashes of typography, hectic and busy images related to media and television, I felt slightly uncomfortable and annoyed. I watch television, does that mean I'm succumbing to a 'drug?'

Television is a Drug got me thinking about the ways advertisers use and abuse the television to deliver a message. As mentioned in lecture, 90% of advertising is "crap," so how do we lower that percentage? Television is a strong tool for delivering a message, but as seen in this video, it can be a drug if abused.

Television is a double edge sword.
