As mentioned in lecture today, a new era of social networking emerges within every decade. In the 1960's Bill Bernbach merged writers and art directors, changing the model for ad agencies from that point forward. The question was then posed in lecture: what will we say about your era?
Well, last week I read an article in More magazine titled, "What Would Emily Post Tweet?" Emily Post, an etiquette guru in the 1920's, first published Etiquette in 1922. Within this read, she offered topics such as the proper format of a calling card and the correct way to fold a letter. In the newest edition of Etiquette, Emily's great-grand-daughter-in-law, Peggy Post and her granddaughters, discuss social networking for the first time. I found these short magazine blurbs to be incredibly interesting as Post takes on the proper Facebook and Twitter etiquette. Our networking mediums sure have changed.
